"Christianity Under Fire" at Yahoo Groups is a group i'm exploring and belong
to at the moment, but I have mixed feelings about the group. I've seen some
really good items posted-one of which I read in my email inbox today. I wanted
to include the link to the post, but I found that you would have to join the group
in order to read what was in the current posts or archives-which is too bad.
"Christianity Under Fire" is a worthwhile group to look over, and it's not afraid
to make strong, challenging or radical points. I wanted to share this post:

[Christianity_Under_Fire] Pleasantville, the Movie
Pleasantville was a movie about two teenagers that were watching a Leave it
to Beaver like marathon on television when they get transported to this black
and white town on television.
As time passes, they transform this black and white town into a technicolor
lovefest.
The one that transports them is Don Knotts (Barney Fife), and later is sorry
that he did because they are transforming the town.
The whole idea behind the movie is great until we find out that along with
the introduction of color, they also introduce immorality.
Then there is a subtle connection made between the racist and evil
discrimination of blacks in the sixties to the opposition to 'coloreds' with signs
that say, 'No Coloreds allowed.' The only difference is that coloreds this time are
those that are not just black and white anymore, like most of the town.
The Movie ends with the Mom sitting on a bus bench, looking at her husband
and saying, 'What do we do now' and the husband smilingly answers with 'I
don't know' , then she turns to her lover on the other end of the bus bench and
he answers with the same response.
The husband is played by William H. Macy, who in real life is a Homosexual.
Unlike so many movies that want to portray those that stand for morality and
truth as being afraid of color. However, it is the other things that the world tries
to attach to color that we should be wary of.
Check out the group picture and you will see one of the transported teenagers
wiping the black and white off of his mother's face.
We need to be vocal in opposing these subtle attacks on what is right by those
that mix a little truth with every lie.
Keith Green wrote and sung a song that is about Satan's strategy and we will
end it with that.
Here it is:
'Oh, my job keeps getting easier
As time keeps slipping away
I can imitate your brightest light
And make your night look just like day
I put some truth in every lie
To tickle itching ears
You know I'm drawing people just like flies
'Cause they like what they hear
I'm gaining power by the hour
they're falling by the score
You know, it's getting very simple now
'Cause no one believe in me anymore
Oh, heaven's just a state of mind
My books read on your shelf
And have you heard that God is dead
I made that one up myself
They dabble in magic spells
They get their fortunes read
You know they heard the truth
But turned away and followed me instead
I used to have to sneak around
But now they just open their doors
You know, no ones watching for my tricks
Because no one believes in me anymore
Everyone likes a winner
With my help, you're guaranteed to win
And hey man, you're ain't no sinner
You've got the truth within
And as your life slips by
You believe the lie that you did it on your own
But don't worry
I'll be there to help you share our dark eternal home
Oh, my job keeps getting easier
As day slips into day
The magazines, the newspapers
Print every word I say
This world is just my spinning top
It's all like childs-play
You know, I dream that it will never stop
But I know it's not that way
Still my work goes on and on
Always stronger than before
I'm gonna make it dark before the dawn
Since no one believes in me anymore
Well now I used to have to sneak around
But now they just open their doors
You know, no one watches for my tricks
Since no one believes in me anymore
Well I'm gaining power by the hour
They're falling by the score
You know, it's getting very easy now
Since no one believes in me anymore
No one believes in me anymore
No one believes in me anymore.'
